This site was previously called "The Bench Press". Sometime back in the mid 00's I was distributing small press books which were printed cheaply and held together with giant staples. It was one of my less successful projects. As the concept has long since been retired, it seemed appropriate to retire the name too.
Only some of my book reviews are posted here. This site is reserved for books that I think deserve more attention. Mostly that means they are Australian, transgressive, or obscure. All the other reviews I write are on Goodreads.
